Evolution released July 22, is all about taking us back to their metal, funk and hardcore roots that have brought this band so much success since the beginning. Evolution starts off with in your face attitude, with heavier songs that bring forward issues that are most important in our world today covering a broad spectrum of controversial and brutally honest lyrical content.
Jared is a dynamic vocalist, combining rapping, screams, growls and singing into his body of work. In my quest of learning about this band, I wondered where the name comes from. I expect a big party. Massive pit and a lot of love in the air. This time, we are headlining, so we will be able to play all fucking night. We have a ton of material, 8 albums, and we like to play tracks from each album, so…I hope everyone is ready to sweat.
You guys also did an almost three month long tour with Insane Clown Posse at the end of last year. Considering that they are devoutly Christian and Hed p. Well, that Christian thing seems to be maybe a rumor or a conspiracy. There was absolutely no tension between us.
It was like one big happy family. I would love to go on tour with ICP any time, any day. It was probably my favorite tour ever. There have been the most intense club shows. The club was packed.
What matters to me is the level of intensity. On our last album, we had a single called Renegade, that did quite well for us in the States, so we were invited to play quite a few radio festivals. I mean, we were playing at baseball stadiums and shit.
So, that was one of the most memorable shows as well, cause the youth are like stunned when we get on stage, cause we are surrounded by corporate rock bands, and Hed p. So much love we get on the road, so I could never pick just one night or one show. I have a nice way of forgetting the bad shit in my life. I missed my plane one time, and missed out on a huge festival. I had arrived to the airport on time, but they could not find my ticket.

Billboard When the band started I was extremely toxic, and my brain was clouded by all the chemicals. MI: What one thing about you would even your closest friends be surprised to learn? It consumes my entire life. Are you a fan of his work? It was an honor to have him on that track, and it was effortless working with him.
The guy has a great attitude and an amazing voice. MI: What led you to do Menina using Portuguese? JG: Well, both my parents, and all my ancestors are from Brazil. I am a first generation American, and I have great respect for where I come from. I have always wanted to do a hardcore song in Portuguese, and it seems people are digging it. MI: Do you speak any other languages? JG: Only Portuguese. Of course, since we travel a lot, I also know a few words in Japanese and Russian, but would no way claim I can speak any other languages.
MI: Do you feel it is important to be bilingual in time such as these? JG: Oh yes. When you go overseas, all those kids know like three languages at least. I think it sucks that in America most people only know English.
